KANUNGU.
Students from across the district on Sunday, 22nd March 2026, gathered at Nyakinoni Secondary School for the UNSA District Schools Tournament. They participated in debate, poetry and public speech.
Tricia, a student of St Theresa Girls College Calcutta won the Best Poet title after delivering a performance that drew both applause and reflection.
In public speaking, Ampereza Marvelous of Kinkizi High School stood out for clarity and confidence.
Nyakinoni Secondary School claimed the debate trophy after a closely contested final marked against Bishop Comboni College-Kambuga.
Guest of honour Hon. Rukundo Joshua praised the students for stepping forward and using their voices, noting the importance of such platforms in nurturing critical thinking and engagement beyond the classroom.
The tournament was organised by Shillah Kyasimire, the UNSA representative for Kanungu District, who coordinated schools, adjudicators, and participants for what attendees described as a well-run event.
