President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged Members of Parliament from Buganda under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) to put household incomes at the centre of their service, saying the region has greatly benefited from the revolution and must lead in wealth creation.
The President Museveni made the remarks during a meeting with the NRM Buganda Parliamentary Caucus at State House, Entebbe, where many developmental issues were discussed. He also reminded the leaders that Buganda enjoys a unique advantage from the peace and stability established by the ruling government.

“You, the new leaders, need to defend the legitimate interests of the people of Uganda and Buganda because Buganda is the major beneficiary of the NRM revolution, and anybody who does not see that is an enemy of Buganda,” Museveni said.
He (the president) also cited good roads, industries, and relative peace as examples of the progress made under his leadership, adding that leaders must now go beyond infrastructure and focus on raising the incomes of ordinary citizens/ wananchi.
“Strategically, Buganda is the direct beneficiary of NRM, so if all the people get involved in creating wealth, Uganda will be the most developed country in the world,” he noted.
The President warned that land fragmentation continues to be one of the biggest threats to development in Buganda and other parts of the country. He emphasised the need for leaders to sensitise communities on sustainable land use and economic transformation.
During the meeting, Hon. Migadde Robert Ndugwa, chairperson of the Buganda Parliamentary group and MP for Buvuma County, presented the caucus’s Memorandum of Understanding. Ndugwa praised President Museveni’s leadership, saying it has steered Uganda on a steady development path. Migadde revealed that the group has been engaging communities at constituency level to respond to their concerns and track government projects.
The Deputy Secretary General of NRM, Hon. Rose Namayanja, commended the MPs for their unity and commitment, while thanking President Museveni for offering guidance on service delivery. She encouraged the caucus to double efforts in serving the people of Buganda and consolidating the party’s support in the region.
President Museveni, in turn, applauded the MPs for sensitising citizens about government programmes and urged them to translate political stability into tangible household transformation.
