The Tooro Kingdom has dismissed social media reports questioning the health of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, saying the monarch is well and currently outside Uganda on official duties and academic commitments.
In a statement issued Monday from Fort Portal, kingdom officials described the circulating claims as false and urged the public not to rely on unverified information shared online.

The statement sought to reassure subjects of the kingdom and the wider public that there was no cause for concern regarding the Omukama’s well-being.
“We wish to reassure all our people that His Majesty is in good health. He is currently abroad for official engagements and to further his studies,” the kingdom said.
Officials also encouraged the public to seek updates only from the kingdom’s official communication channels, saying misinformation shared on social media can create unnecessary concern and confusion.
The response came after online posts circulated with unverified claims about the king’s health, prompting speculation among some social media users. The kingdom did not indicate where the reports originated but emphasized that the information being shared was inaccurate.
King Oyo, who ascended to the throne in 1995 as one of the world’s youngest reigning monarchs, continues to serve as the cultural leader of the Tooro Kingdom while pursuing academic and leadership responsibilities.
The kingdom said it remains committed to providing accurate information through its official platforms and urged the public to verify claims before sharing them, warning that the spread of false information can erode public trust and cause unnecessary alarm.
