Gloria Bugie Says She Will Perform for Any Political Party If Paid

The election season is here, and for many people, it means more work, more noise, and more opportunities to earn. But for musicians like Gloria Bugie, it is a chance to cash in on her talent without taking political sides.

The “Nyash” singer has openly declared that she will perform for any politician or political party, provided her performance comes with good payment. She says music is her job and she cannot afford to go hungry while others are making money during the campaign season.

“I will perform for whoever pays me. What matters to me is being paid. So, I will perform for any of those politicians and political parties as long as I’m paid,” Gloria Bugie said during an interview.

Her decision has sparked conversations among fans and fellow artists, but Gloria Bugie insists her focus is on making a living, not politics. She says she does not plan to pledge loyalty to a single party or candidate. Instead, she sees herself as a professional offering a service that must be valued.

Just a day before her statement, the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation , Eddy Kenzo advised musicians to think of their craft as a business. He noted that while music comes with challenges, artists must perform where they are paid in order to benefit from their work.

“Music is a business, but like all businesses, there are challenges. However, I think musicians should perform where they are paid because it’s the only way to benefit from their work at the moment,” he said.

For Gloria Bugie, this is the season to perform, earn, and survive. She says she will leave politics to the politicians, while she focuses on keeping her music career alive.
