Kifunjo SACCO Launched at Davidson Keesiga Cup

KIFUNJO, Kanungu .

Thousands of people turned up in Kifunjo, on Saturday for the Davidson Kesiga Cup, a community event that blended sports, entertainment, and local development.

The lively gathering featured a mix of football, athletics, comedy, and musical performances, drawing crowds from across the area. Revellers were treated to performances from several artistes and comedians, creating a festive atmosphere that lasted throughout the day.

A football match, which headlined the sporting activities, attracted significant attention, alongside athletics competitions that saw local talent showcase their abilities.

Among the notable attendees was Ugandan comedian Alex Muhangi, as well as a number of popular western Uganda bloggers and social media influencers.

Event organiser Davidson Kesiga used the occasion to launch the Kifunjo SACCO, a savings and credit cooperative aimed at empowering members of the community financially. He announced the opening of shares for 30 founding members, marking the beginning of what he described as a people-driven initiative.

Keesiga emphasised that his efforts are not politically motivated, but rather focused on giving back to the community and creating opportunities for growth.

“I am not into politics. This is about supporting my people and building something meaningful together,” he said.

His parents, who were in attendance, praised him for his impact and described him as a role model to many young people in the area.

The Davidson Keesiga Cup is expected to become an annual event, with organisers hoping it will continue to promote talent, unity, and community development in Kifunjo and beyond.
