Cindy Sanyu Calls for Bobi Wine’s Return to the Stage Amid Ongoing Ban
Ugandan musician Cinderella Sanyu, popularly known as Cindy, has expressed her desire for Bobi Wine to return to the music scene, urging that he be allowed to perform as an artist rather than a politician.
Cindy and Bobi Wine share a long history in Uganda’s music industry, notably collaborating on the hit song “Dilemma” alongside Jamaican artist Mr. G. The track remains a fan favorite and a testament to their musical synergy. Cindy fondly recalled the experience, saying, “I absolutely miss him, especially since we worked on a song together. I think he should appear on stage as Bobi Wine, not Kyagulanyi. I would really want him back on stage.”
Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, has been banned from performing in Uganda for over six years. The ban stems from his outspoken political views and activities. Despite multiple attempts to challenge the ban through the courts, he has yet to perform publicly in the country.
Recently, Eddy Kenzo commented on the situation, stating that he could not ask the President to lift the ban on Bobi Wine’s performances. He described such a request as “stupid,” explaining that music is often used as a platform to challenge political positions, and allowing Bobi Wine to perform could be seen as endorsing his political stance.
