Rukundo Joshua, district councilor representing male workers in Kanungu District, has today been appointed Vice LC5 Chairperson by newly sworn-in LC5 Chairperson Francis Byamukama Kapesha.

Joshua’s appointment was largely welcomed across the district, with many residents and leaders describing him as a deserving choice based on merit and his record of service.

Speaking after the appointment, Joshua pledged to continue working diligently for the people of Kanungu and promised to build on the progress already made in the district.

“I will continue serving the people of Kanungu with commitment and dedication,” Joshua said.

His appointment came shortly after a tightly contested race for the district speakership that drew significant attention from delegates and political observers.

In the election, Frank, commonly known as “Fara,” emerged victorious by a single vote after the contest initially ended in a draw. The final decision came after the LC5 chairperson cast the deciding vote to determine the next speaker.

Following his victory, Fara said his long experience in leadership had prepared him well for the role.

“I have been a leader for many years since Kanungu became a district, and I am ready to continue serving the people effectively,” he said.

The new leadership team is expected to steer the district’s next phase of governance following the recent swearing-in ceremonies and council elections.
