John Blaq completes Bushenyi performance despite accommodation dispute

Ugandan singer John Blaq honored his performance commitment in Bushenyi despite an apparent dispute with an event promoter over accommodation arrangements that briefly interrupted the concert.

The incident unfolded during the show when the “Makanika” singer paused his performance and confronted the promoter, saying he and members of his team had not been provided with a place to spend the night as had been expected.

The interruption created a tense atmosphere as concertgoers watched the disagreement unfold on stage. For several moments, the performance came to a standstill while the issue remained unresolved.

Rather than ending the event, John Blaq returned to the stage and completed his set, telling fans through his actions that they should not bear the consequences of the dispute. His decision allowed the concert to continue, with attendees receiving the performance they had come to watch despite the backstage challenges.

After the show, the singer and his team did not remain in Bushenyi. Instead, they traveled back to Kampala the same night.

The incident has renewed attention on the responsibilities of event organizers, particularly the need to fulfill logistical commitments made to performers. Accommodation, transportation and other welfare arrangements are considered standard elements of concert planning, and failures in those areas can strain relationships between artists and promoters.

While disagreements between musicians and promoters occasionally surface in Uganda’s entertainment industry, they rarely play out before a live audience. The Bushenyi incident has since generated discussion among fans on social media, with many praising John Blaq for completing his performance despite the reported challenges behind the scenes.
