Outspoken events promoter Nobert Twizire, widely known by his stage name Nobert Events, says the upcoming LC1 chairperson election will settle once and for all whether he has a future in elective politics.
The promoter, no stranger to controversy, says he is ready to walk away from politics entirely if he comes up short again, calling the race his last shot after a string of unsuccessful campaigns. Looking back on those earlier bids, Nobert admitted to a history of defeats and setbacks, but he insists this contest will bring closure one way or another.
With polling day drawing near, Nobert says his focus is on winning over voters rather than replaying past disappointments in his head.
Reflecting on his political journey, Nobert said he has run for elective office multiple times without success. He recalled contesting for the LC3 chairperson seat in Nsambya Central during the 2021 elections, a race he lost to Wasswa Araft of the National Unity Platform.
He said he later tried again during the 2026 NRM LC3 flag bearer primaries, but claims he was unfairly denied the party’s flag, a decision he says blocked him from contesting in the general election that followed. That account comes from Nobert himself, and the circumstances surrounding the primary have not been independently verified.
Now running for LC1 chairperson, Nobert says he has arrived at a point of acceptance, whatever the outcome. Another loss, he says, would mark the end of his involvement in elective politics for good.
Whether voters hand him the win he says he needs remains to be seen, but for Nobert, the stakes attached to this particular race appear higher than any he has faced before.
