Zari Hassan says $10,000 facelift was a business investment

Ugandan socialite, entrepreneur and reality television personality Zari Hassan says she recently spent $10,000 on a facelift, arguing that maintaining her appearance is an important part of the career that has made her one of East Africa’s most recognizable public figures.

Speaking about the cosmetic procedure, Zari said the facelift cost about $10,000, or roughly 36 million Ugandan shillings, not including airfare and other travel expenses she incurred while seeking treatment abroad.

She described the decision as a business investment rather than a luxury, saying her public image directly affects the commercial opportunities available to her.

“My face is my business,” she said, explaining that brands often consider appearance when selecting ambassadors and influencers for endorsement deals.

The mother of five said she believes women who have the financial means should not feel embarrassed about undergoing cosmetic procedures if they improve their confidence and self esteem.

Zari has long been open with her followers about her beauty and cosmetic enhancement journey, a level of transparency that has distinguished her from many public figures who rarely discuss such procedures publicly.

Her latest remarks have fueled fresh conversations across social media, where supporters praised her honesty and confidence in speaking about cosmetic surgery. Others questioned whether increasing pressure on celebrities to maintain youthful appearances is encouraging unrealistic beauty standards.

The discussion reflects a broader trend in the entertainment and influencer industry, where appearance has become closely tied to commercial success. As social media platforms continue to shape public perception and brand marketing, more public personalities are openly acknowledging the financial and professional considerations behind cosmetic enhancements.

For Zari, the procedure was less about vanity than protecting a personal brand she says plays a central role in her business and earning potential.
