KIHIHI, Kanungu District .
Tumwesigye Rogers was officially sworn in today as the new mayor of Kihihi Town Council during a ceremony held at Mayor’s Gardens.
The event also featured the swearing-in of councilors from Nyanga Sub-county, Kihihi Sub-county and Kihihi Town Council.
The ceremony attracted a large number of residents, political leaders and invited guests from across the district.

Organizers, however, limited attendance to help control crowds following the recent Ebola outbreak in the country. All standard operating procedures were observed throughout the event.
The chief guest was Eng. Peter Nkurunungi, who congratulated the newly elected leaders and urged them to focus on service delivery, unity and development.
Among the notable guests in attendance were former Kanungu District woman MP candidate Ester Majambere, Canon Twine, Kanungu District LC5 Chairman Francis Kapesha, Deputy LC5 Chairman Joshua Rukundo, RDCs and several other local leaders.
Rogers assumes office after defeating incumbent mayor Sostine in a landslide victory during the recently concluded elections.
In his remarks, Rogers thanked voters for the trust they placed in him and pledged to work with all leaders and residents to improve services and development in Kihihi Town Council.
The swearing-in ceremony was marked by celebrations, prayers and speeches from different leaders who called for cooperation among elected officials for the benefit of the people.
