KAMPALA, Uganda .
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has directed 100 million Ugandan shillings raised from his 52nd birthday charity run toward the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation, officials said.
The contribution comes from proceeds of the 10-kilometer “Gen MK Birthday Run,” held April 26 at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala. Thousands of participants joined the event under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope.”

The funds will support the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation’s work with children battling cancer, part of broader efforts to aid orphans, babies’ homes and vulnerable communities across Uganda, according to organizers.
Kainerugaba, a senior military figure and son of President Yoweri Museveni, has used the annual run to spotlight charitable causes. This year’s event drew a large crowd of runners, walkers and supporters at the prominent Kampala venue.
Specific details on the total amount raised and additional beneficiaries were not immediately available. The Uganda Child Cancer Foundation provides treatment support, counseling and family assistance for pediatric cancer patients.
