Lions Club of Kanungu Installs Dr. Kasudha as 6th President

KANUNGU, Uganda (June 14, 2026) – The Lions Club of Kanungu on Sunday installed Lion Dr. Kasudha Daniel as its sixth president, entrusting him with the leadership of the club for the 2026-2027 Lionistic Year.

Dr. Kasudha succeeds outgoing president Lion Mpimbaze Martin. The installation ceremony was held at Goro Cottages in Kihihi Town Council, Kanungu District, and attracted Lions members, guests and community leaders.

Earlier in the day, club members carried out a community service activity at Nyamwegabira Health Centre III, where they donated assorted items to patients and planted a tree as part of their environmental conservation efforts.

The ceremony was presided over by the guest of honor, PMJF Lion Byarugaba Cornelius.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Kasudha pledged to unite members around the club’s mission of selfless service and community development.

“We shall continue serving our communities with dedication and focus on key areas such as diabetes awareness, vision care, hunger alleviation, environmental conservation and the fight against childhood cancer,” he said.

Outgoing president Mpimbaze praised Lions members for their commitment to humanitarian service, describing the organization as a force for positive change in communities.

He said Lions across the world continue to “light the world with good deeds” through projects that improve lives and uplift vulnerable people. He urged Ugandans to embrace a culture of service and compassion in their daily lives.

Speaking at the event, Byarugaba commended the growth and impact of Lions Clubs International, noting that the organization, founded in 1917, continues to expand its membership and humanitarian reach across the globe.

The Lions Club of Kanungu is affiliated with Lions Clubs International. The club was sponsored by the Mbarara Lions Club under the guidance of Benson Kataate, a former district governor of Lions District 411B Uganda.

The club was later registered as a Community-Based Organization by the Kanungu District Local Government on Aug. 4, 2021.

Since its establishment, the Lions Club of Kanungu has undertaken a range of community service projects aimed at improving health, supporting vulnerable groups and promoting environmental stewardship across the district. Under Dr. Kasudha’s leadership, the club is expected to build on that legacy while expanding its impact in the community.
